Central
Asia
A cradle
of culture since earliest times, Central Asia is also known as the Heart
of Asia.
It is a melting pot of tribal nomadic groups and is a living museum of
ancient cities and cultures. Over the course of history the peoples and
tribes of this area have moved from home to form Empires and Civilisations
which have greatly influenced the rest of the world.
The North American Indians, found by Europeans when they first arrived
on mainland America had migrated from Central Asia many thousands of years
beforehand across the Bering Straits.

The Moghul
Empire in North India and modern Indian Muslims both trace their roots
and traditions to this region.
The Aryan tribes came from here and it is believed that Gypsies also started
their wanderings here.
Until
recently dominated by the U.S.S.R., Central Asia is little known to people
in the west, but it is the parent of many distant cultures.
Known as
'Central Asia' not because of it's geographical location, but because
of it's role as the birth place of many cultures and traditions.
